Maxis 5G Home WiFi Plans (2026): Price, Rebate & Which Plan to Choose

Quick Answer
No fibre port? Maxis 5G Home WiFi is your plug-and-play alternative — no installation appointment, no drilling. Three plans available: Home WiFi 99 (from RM79/mth), Home WiFi 139 (from RM109/mth), and the new 5G Plus Home WiFi 159 (from RM129/mth with mesh WiFi included).

This page covers all three Maxis Home WiFi plans — pricing after rebate, what's included, who each plan suits, and when you should choose Home WiFi over fibre.

*Performance depends on 4G/5G signal at your location. Rebate requires K2 device contract.

1. All Maxis 5G Home WiFi Plans (2026)

Plan Base Price Rebate Effective Price Includes
Home WiFi 99 RM99/mth RM20 × 24 mths RM79/mth Unlimited 5G/4G (up to 100Mbps), K2 router
Home WiFi 139 RM139/mth RM30 × 24 mths RM109/mth Unlimited 5G/4G (uncapped speed), K2 router
5G Plus Home WiFi 159 NEW RM159/mth RM30 × 24 mths RM129/mth 5G Router + Mesh combo, whole-home coverage

*All rebates require K2 device contract (24 months). Rebate reflects from 2nd/3rd bill onwards. Early termination may incur penalties. 5G Plus Home WiFi 159 launched 13 March 2026.

2. How the Rebate Works

The rebate is tied to the K2 device contract — this is essentially a contract for the 5G router/CPE device. Here's what you need to know:

How it applies
You sign up at the base price. The monthly rebate (RM20 or RM30) is deducted from your bill each month for 24 months. Net effect: you pay the lower effective price shown above.
First bill note
The rebate typically starts from the 2nd or 3rd bill. Your first bill may show the full base price. This is normal — the rebate kicks in after the system activates it.
Early termination
If you terminate before the 24-month K2 contract ends, early termination charges may apply. The rebate also stops if you cancel the plan.

3. Which Home WiFi Plan Should You Choose?

Home WiFi 99
RM79/mth after rebate
Best for: singles, couples, light users. Up to 100 Mbps. Good for browsing, social media, Netflix in HD, basic WFH.
Home WiFi 139
RM109/mth — Most Picked
Best for: families, heavier streaming, multiple devices. Uncapped speed — gets the fastest 5G speed available at your location.
5G Plus 159 NEW
RM129/mth — Best Coverage
Best for: larger homes, double-storey, rooms far from router. Includes 5G Router + Mesh — whole-home coverage without buying separate mesh hardware.
Pro tip: If your house has weak WiFi in certain rooms, the 5G Plus 159 with mesh solves that problem out of the box. Otherwise, the Home WiFi 139 gives you the best speed for the price.

4. Should You Get Home WiFi or Fibre?

Choose Home WiFi if:
No fibre port at your address, you need internet urgently (plug-and-play), you're a renter or short-term tenant, or your area has strong 4G/5G signal.
Choose Fibre if:
Your home has a fibre port available, you need stable internet for gaming/WFH/4K, you have many devices, or you want the best value long-term. Fibre 300 Mbps at RM99 gives you 3× the speed of Home WiFi 99 for only RM20 more.

FAQ — Maxis 5G Home WiFi

What is the difference between Home WiFi 99 and 139?

Home WiFi 99 (RM79 after rebate) has a speed cap of up to 100 Mbps. Home WiFi 139 (RM109 after rebate) has uncapped speed — you get the fastest 4G/5G speed available at your location. For most families, the 139 plan is worth the RM30 difference.

What is the new 5G Plus Home WiFi 159?

Launched 13 March 2026, it's the premium Home WiFi plan at RM159/mth (RM129 after RM30 rebate × 24 months). The key difference is it includes a 5G Router + Mesh combo — so you get whole-home WiFi coverage without buying separate mesh hardware. Best for double-storey homes or large apartments.

What does "K2 device contract" mean?

K2 is the contract for the 5G router/CPE device. When you take a K2 contract (12 or 24 months), you get the monthly rebate. If you terminate early, there may be penalty charges based on remaining months.

Is Home WiFi stable enough for gaming?

It depends on your 4G/5G signal strength. In areas with strong 5G coverage, gaming can work well. But for competitive gaming where consistent low ping matters, fibre is always more reliable. Home WiFi ping can spike during peak hours.

Can I use Home WiFi while waiting for fibre installation?

Yes, this is a common approach. Many people start with Home WiFi because it's instant (no installation appointment), then switch to fibre when the port is ready. Just be aware of the K2 contract period if you plan to cancel Home WiFi after switching.
