For light users, yes. For large homes, creators, heavy downloaders, many simultaneous users or homes with strong WiFi/mesh setup, 1Gbps can make sense. 1Gbps also includes a WiFi 7 router and, on the Postpaid Bundle, the biggest lifetime rebate at RM90/month.
WiFi speed depends on router placement, device capability, WiFi band, distance, walls and interference. If only certain rooms are slow, fix WiFi coverage before upgrading speed. Adding Max WiFi by Maxperts mesh (from RM19/month) is often the better fix.
RM99 is the Postpaid Bundle price, which also comes with a lifetime RM40/month rebate while the bundle stays active. RM129 is the Standalone price, with a 24-month rebate only. The Postpaid Bundle requires an eligible Maxis Postpaid plan on the same account.

Only 500Mbps (RM139) and 1Gbps (RM159) with Maxis postpaid qualify for the RM1/month device option. 500Mbps gets a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite or Samsung 55" 4K UHD TV at RM10/mth, while 1Gbps gets an iPad 11" or Samsung 65" 4K UHD TV at RM10/mth (limited stock). The 300Mbps RM99 plan only qualifies for the FREE 3 months reward, not the device — so if a device matters, go 500Mbps or above.
The RM20 difference gets you double the speed plus a WiFi 7 router instead of WiFi 6, and access to the Samsung TV or iPad 11" reward tier. If you don't need WiFi 7 or the higher-tier device, 500Mbps at RM139 already covers most households well. Choose 1Gbps mainly if multiple users stream/game simultaneously or you specifically want the iPad/Samsung TV (subject to stock).
Without a Maxis line, pricing is different: 100Mbps RM89, 300Mbps RM129, 500Mbps RM149, and 1Gbps RM249. Roadshow sign-ups still get FREE 3 months, but the RM1/month device reward is exclusive to Maxis postpaid bundles — no stacking either way.
Yes, 5G Home WiFi is uncapped and needs no fibre port, priced at RM69, RM79, or RM109, with a free router and free TNG credit up to RM200 (promo ends 30 September 2026). It won't match fibre's stability at peak hours, but it's a fast fallback — check coverage via WhatsApp before switching.
