Maxis vs TIME Fibre Malaysia

Maxis vs TIME Fibre — Price, Coverage & Which Is Better?

Maxis and TIME are both strong fibre choices, but they are not the same type of provider. Maxis has wider address coverage through wholesale fibre infrastructure, while TIME runs its own fibre network in selected areas. The best choice depends on your address first, then price, upload speed, router, contract and promo.

Current Maxis Fibre offer: Football Fever Converge Deals
Eligible Maxis Postpaid customers can get 300Mbps RM99, 500Mbps RM139 or 1Gbps RM159. For 500Mbps / 1Gbps, selected device options include iPad or TV add-ons, with the Samsung 55” 4K TV available as a RM1/month add-on on 1Gbps from 18 May 2026.

Quick verdict

Which is better: Maxis Fibre or TIME?

The honest answer is simple: if TIME is not available at your address, choose Maxis or another fibre option. If both are available, TIME can be attractive for upload-heavy users, while Maxis can be stronger for wider coverage, Postpaid Bundle pricing and current device/free-month offers.

Choose Maxis Fibre if

You want wider coverage, especially landed homes, Sabah/Sarawak checks, or lower Maxis Postpaid Bundle pricing like 300Mbps RM99, 500Mbps RM139 and 1Gbps RM159.

Choose TIME if

Your building is covered by TIME, you want TIME’s own fibre network, and you value stronger upload tiers, WiFi 7 router options, or TIME’s no-contract / shorter-contract choices.

Network difference

Maxis and TIME do not use the same fibre model

This is the biggest difference. TIME promotes its own 100% fibre network, while Maxis Home Fibre is usually sold through wider access arrangements across Malaysia. For customers, that affects coverage, installation flow, upload speed and service availability.

🟢

Maxis Fibre

Better for broad availability checks, landed homes, apartments, condos and East Malaysia address coverage where TIME may not be an option.

  • Wider Malaysia coverage path
  • Strong with Maxis Postpaid Bundle pricing
  • Good for normal family, gaming and WFH use
🔵

TIME Fibre

Strong where covered, especially in selected buildings and areas. TIME also markets direct network control and selected WiFi 7 router plans.

  • Own fibre network
  • 200Mbps has symmetrical 200/200 speed
  • Good for upload-heavy users if available

Important correction: Do not say TIME is always symmetrical at every speed. Current TIME public plan display shows 200Mbps as 200/200, while 600Mbps and 1Gbps show 500Mbps upload.

Price comparison

Maxis Fibre vs TIME price comparison

TIME and Maxis use different speed tiers, so compare by practical household need instead of trying to match every plan perfectly. Maxis Postpaid Bundle prices below require eligible Maxis Postpaid on the same account.

Speed / Tier Maxis Fibre TIME Fibre Simple read
100–200Mbps entry 100Mbps from RM89/mthEntry Maxis Fibre pricing depends on current structure and eligibility. 200Mbps RM99/mthTIME 200Mbps shows 200Mbps/200Mbps download/upload. TIME gives higher entry speed if covered. Maxis gives wider address-check path.
300Mbps / value family plan 300Mbps RM99/mthEligible Maxis Postpaid Bundle. Standalone 300Mbps is RM129/mth. No direct 300Mbps tier shown in current TIME home plan set. Maxis is cleaner if you specifically want 300Mbps family value.
500–600Mbps heavy home 500Mbps RM139/mthEligible Maxis Postpaid Bundle. Standalone 500Mbps is RM149/mth. 600Mbps RM99 first 6 monthsRRP RM139/mth on TIME 24-month plan, with 600Mbps/500Mbps download/upload. TIME is very strong here if covered. Maxis is still strong with Postpaid Bundle and device/free-month options.
1Gbps premium 1Gbps RM159/mthEligible Maxis Postpaid Bundle. Standalone 1Gbps is RM249/mth. 1Gbps RM199/mthTIME 24-month plan shows 1Gbps/500Mbps download/upload. Maxis Postpaid Bundle is cheaper at 1Gbps. TIME may win if you value its network and router experience.
2Gbps Check Maxis 2Gbps availability and current offer. 2Gbps RM379/mthTIME says 2Gbps is available only in selected locations. Premium tier. Coverage, hardware and home layout matter more than headline speed.

Fair comparison: TIME can be excellent where available, especially for 600Mbps and selected upload-heavy use. Maxis is stronger for wider coverage and eligible Postpaid Bundle pricing.

Coverage reality

Coverage is the real dealbreaker

Many customers compare price first, but the real first question is whether TIME or Maxis can actually install at your exact address.

📍

Maxis coverage

Maxis should be checked by exact address, unit, block and port status. This is especially important for condos and East Malaysia locations.

  • Good address-check path for Sabah and Sarawak
  • Useful for landed, apartment and condo checks
  • Final result depends on port and serviceability
🏙️

TIME coverage

TIME’s official coverage list focuses on selected West Malaysia areas such as Klang Valley, Penang, Johor, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Kedah.

  • Strong in selected buildings and areas
  • Still requires address-level coverage check
  • Not a default option for Sabah/Sarawak searches

For Sabah and Sarawak customers: Do not waste time comparing TIME first. Check Maxis Fibre availability, port status, and alternative options such as 5G Home WiFi if fibre is not ready.

Current Maxis promo

Maxis Football Fever Converge Deals vs TIME promo

TIME may be attractive on 600Mbps pricing where available. Maxis’ current advantage is the eligible Postpaid Bundle structure plus selected free-month or device add-on options.

Maxis Postpaid Bundle

300Mbps RM99, 500Mbps RM139 and 1Gbps RM159 for eligible Maxis Postpaid customers. Selected offers include FREE 3 months or device options depending on plan and stock.

Samsung TV device option

From 18 May 2026, the Samsung 55” 4K TV is available as a RM1/month add-on on the 1Gbps plan (36-month device contract). The earlier free-TV window has ended.

Important wording: Do not say “FREE iPad” anymore. In the latest Maxis brief, iPad is from RM10/month on 500Mbps and from RM1/month on 1Gbps, subject to eligibility and 36-month device contract.

Decision guide

Which should you choose?

Choose Maxis Fibre if

  • Your address has Maxis coverage and port availability
  • You are in Sabah, Sarawak, or an area not covered by TIME
  • You already use or plan to use Maxis Postpaid
  • You want 300Mbps RM99 or 1Gbps RM159 bundle pricing
  • You want current Football Fever free-month or device options
  • You want one team to help check coverage and plan suitability

Choose TIME Fibre if

  • Your building is confirmed covered by TIME
  • You want TIME’s own fibre network experience
  • You value 600Mbps at RM139 after promo period
  • You need stronger upload than typical household users
  • You want TIME’s 12-month or no-contract choices
  • You prefer TIME’s router and service ecosystem

Best practical rule: If both are available, compare final monthly cost, contract, router, upload need and installation date. If TIME is not available, Maxis becomes the practical fibre path to check first.

FAQ

Maxis vs TIME Fibre FAQ

Is TIME Fibre faster than Maxis Fibre?

Not automatically. TIME has strong plans where available, especially 600Mbps and 1Gbps tiers. Maxis can be cheaper on eligible Postpaid Bundle pricing, especially 1Gbps RM159. Real experience depends on coverage, router, WiFi placement, device capability and home layout.

Is TIME Fibre available in Sabah or Sarawak?

TIME’s current official coverage messaging focuses on selected West Malaysia areas. For Sabah and Sarawak, customers should check Maxis Fibre, Unifi or suitable wireless broadband options first.

Does TIME still offer symmetrical speed?

TIME’s 200Mbps plan shows 200Mbps download and 200Mbps upload. However, current public displays for 600Mbps and 1Gbps show 500Mbps upload, so it is safer to compare each plan instead of saying all TIME plans are fully symmetrical.

Is Maxis cheaper than TIME?

It depends on the tier. Maxis 300Mbps RM99 and 1Gbps RM159 are strong for eligible Postpaid Bundle users. TIME 600Mbps can be very attractive where covered, especially during limited promos. Final decision should be based on address availability and actual plan eligibility.

Can I switch from TIME to Maxis?

Yes, but it will usually require a new Maxis installation path and address coverage check. Do not cancel your current internet until the new line is installed and tested.

Which is better for content creators?

If TIME is available and your work depends heavily on upload speed, TIME may be attractive. If you need wider coverage, lower eligible bundle pricing, or you are in East Malaysia, Maxis Fibre is more practical to check first.
